On the road to recovery!

I finally was able to see the Bone and Joint specialist on Wednesday and get the diagnosis for my ankle injury: posterior tibial tendonitis. The diagnosis comes with a huge aircast BOOT and a prescription for 2-3 days of physical therapy for 4-6 weeks. My dreams of running the Music City Marathon in Nashville on April 25th are over for this year. I am so disappointed and sad. I feel like I am a balloon that has been deflated...I'm a little out of whack without my stress reliever and energy booster. :(
My advice to my fellow runners is listen to your body, no pain, no gain is not always necessarily true. It was my mantra, but not anymore!

  1. Amy I am so sad for you. All of your hard work :( Well, I hope you get better and you can set your sights on another 1/2 marathon so you don't have to overtrain. Sorry!

  2. Amy that really stinks!! All of that work. You will just have to heal and set up a new goal. Keep your spirits up...you will be training in no time. Much love Chris and A

  3. I'm so proud of you for not giving up. Just think about how far you've come since this summer. It's amazing! I hope six weeks whizzes by for you.

  4. Amy, I am so sorry to hear about your injury.. and the six weeks off training.. plus not being able to run in Nashville. I know 6 weeks probably seems like a long time but it will fly by and before you know it you'll be running again! I'll be praying for a speedy recovery and for your spirits to be up.. I agree with Aileen to set a new goal! YOu can do it!
